A few summers ago, we had the chance to stop at Colorado National Monument and we were not disappointed! These sheer-walled canyons that cut deep into sandstone and granite rock formations were humbling to experience.
This monument, 23,000 acres of canyons, plateaus and massive towers of naturally sculpted monoliths, includes Balance Rock, a 600-ton boulder perched on a rock pedestal. The entrances to "Rim Rock Drive" are located outside the cities of Fruita and Grand Junction. The drive can be enjoyed starting at either entrance and is a 23 mile drive through the park.
Although our visit to Colorado National Monument was short, it was spectacular! This will be on our "Must visit again" list! You can bet you will see a more detailed post of these beautiful formations in the future!
