I haven't gotten to the post yet about why we were considering a pop up camper, but don't worry, it's still coming! In the meantime... WE BOUGHT A POP UP!!!
I am a tad concerned considering this thing is an '83 but it seems to be in relatively good shape for its age. Tomorrow we begin the task of stripping this baby down to the frame, checking her out, and piecing her back together! We are excited to share this process with you on our brand new Facebook page! Yay, I finally did it! Anyway, pics of the whole process will be shared there as well and our new YouTube channel will have videos! Yep! I did that too! This may seem silly to you guys, but I am so stoked that I am figuring this stuff out! It's ok, just let me have my moment.
So, Specs of this particular pop up:
It's 11'11" long and 6'7" wide and her weight is a whole whopping 790lbs!
It is as basic as you can get. It has a full size slide out bed on each end and an eating nook that folds into another smaller bed. Under the benches are the wheel wells with minimal storage space. It does have a 2 burner stove, sink and heater. No fridge.
We will be removing the stove and heater, as we don't feel we will be needing these in our particular situation. I do have a portable 2 burner camp stove that we will be using instead. I don't really like the idea of cooking in the pop up unless we absolutely need to anyway. We will be adding insulation to the walls and reinforcing the floors. The removed appliances gives us the extra storage that we are definitely going to need. As far as the canvas goes, it has seen better days, but isn't all that bad. We will need to patch it here and there, but it should hold up for the time being.
We are still deciding on a color scheme so we can paint and redo the floors. Again, the process will be shared on YouTube, so be sure to follow us there as well.
